The Inter-American Society of Hypertension (IASH) is a non-profit organization that was formed as a consequence of long-standing interactions among scientists of the Americas interested in the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.The officers and members devoted to the understanding, prevention, and control of hypertension and vascular diseases, include outstanding scientists and physicians from 20 different countries in the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia.The first formal meeting of which was to become IASH was held in August 1974 and the successful subsequent meetings inspired by the incorporation in May 1980.The organization's first president was the distinguished F. Merlin Bumpus of the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

The main objectives of the IASH are to:

Stimulate young scientists and physicians...
Promote detection, control, and prevention of hypertension...
Educate physicians, health care workers, and the general public...

The Consortium for Southeastern Hypertension Control (COSEHC) is a nonprofit organization created in 1992 in response to a compelling need to improve the disproportionate hypertension-related morbidity and mortality throughout the southeastern region of the USA.COSHEC achieves its mission and goals by improving the cardiovascular disease knowledge and skills of practitioners though CME activities, conducting research and translating data into practical application to influence many levels in the healthcare chain, and through the establishment of a network of academic health centers and primary care practices throughout the southeast region working together on best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
