New Investigator Travel Award

Supported by educational grants from the Inter-American Society of Hypertension, Council for High Blood Pressure AHA and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute

Information
A limited number of travel awards will be presented to qualified new investigators from Latin and North America who present abstracts at the XVIIth Scientific Meeting of the Inter-American Society of Hypertension. Travel grants will be made available to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty members at the instructor or assistant professor level who submit an abstract to attend the meeting, based on available funding.

The travel grant will provide $500.00 plus waiver of the registration fee to the scientific sessions for awardees who are either still in training or have completed their educational program within the past five years. Those who have been working in the field for over five years are still eligible for a travel grant of $500.00, but must pay the registration fee for the scientific sessions.
  • The candidate must be the first author of the abstract.
  • The work may not have been presented or published before the conference.
  • Each awardee will be presented a check for $500.00 at the conference.
Applications
The candidate must submit an abstract for the XVIIth Scientific Meeting of the Inter-American Society of Hypertension. To be considered for an award, please check the travel grant box on the abstract submission form. In addition, please send electronically the following to Dr. Chappell by January 15, 2007:
  • Copy of the submitted abstract.
  • The work may not have been presented or published before the conference.
  • A curriculum vitae

Latin American New Investigator Award

Information
This award recognizes new investigators for outstanding clinical or basic research studies in the field of hypertension and tissue injury. The award will be presented to qualified new investigators from Latin America who present their abstracts at the XVIIth Scientific Meeting of the Inter-American Society of Hypertension.
  • The candidate must have obtained their terminal degree (PhD or MD) within the last 10 years at the time of the meeting.
  • The candidate must be the first author of the abstract.
  • The work may not have been presented or published before the conference.
Applications
The candidate must submit an abstract for the XVIIth Scientific Meeting of the Inter-American Society of Hypertension. To be considered for an award, please submit the following to Dr. Chappell by January 15, 2007:
  • Copy of the submitted abstract.
  • A curriculum vitae
  • A letter from the candidate stating their application for the award, that the research was accomplished primarily by the candidate, that they are the senior author of the abstract, the month/year their degree was obtained and that the research abstract has not been previously published or presented.
