Introducing the COSEHC Board of Directors newest Members


Amy AmickAmy Amick is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SPH Analytics, bringing more than twenty-five years of experience serving the healthcare market. Under her leadership, the SPH Analytics (SPH) team is focused on empowering health plans, providers, and healthcare networks with innovative solutions that drive quality, improve engagement and help reduce costs.

Prior to joining SPH, Amick was President of market-leading Revenue Cycle Management at MedAssets (now nThrive), Chief Operating Officer for M*Modal, and General Manager, Worldwide Services at Microsoft. Amick received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and a BA in political science and leadership studies from the University of Richmond.

Michael Caplan, MDMichael Caplan, MD has practiced Internal Medicine for thirty-two years in Danville Virginia and served as Chief of Staff and Medical Director for the ICU and CCU at Danville Regional Medical Center. He served for seventeen years on the Board of Directors for Danville Regional Medical Center and has provided consultant services for medical policy, leadership and technology to Sentara Health. He is currently the Faculty Director of the Danville Internal Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic, Medical Director of Gateway Health Alliance Insurance, Member of Lifepoint Health's National Physicians Advisory Board and Chairman of Advantage Point Health Alliance Clinically Integrated Network.

Ross Simpson, MD, PhDRoss Simpson, MD, PhD is a Professor of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He received his MD from Georgetown University and completed further training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago. He received a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC. He formerly served as Medical Director and Principal Clinical Coordinator at the Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence. His research interests include the epidemiology and prevention of sudden unexpected death in adults, as well as the management of hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

Steven M. Smith, PharmD, MPHSteven M. Smith, PharmD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research and Associate Director for the Center for Integrative Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease at the University of Florida. He began his career as a clinical pharmacist focused on hypertension and other cardiovascular disorders in a Family Medicine setting. His current research is focused on observational studies in hypertension and, particularly, treatment-resistant hypertension. He has previously served as the Institute of Medicine Fellow in Pharmacy and helped lead development of the Certified Hypertension Clinician program under the American Hypertension Specialist Certification Program.

Anna ThomasAnna Thomas leads The Kinetix Group's care delivery consulting practice and contributes to the company's innovation and value-based strategy initiatives. She works with forward-thinking health system and payer partners to design and implement scalable care delivery models that improve efficiency and effectiveness, drive better population health, and deliver sustainable value. Anna serves as the Assistant Director of the COSEHC QualityImpact, a CMS-funded practice transformation network under the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI). Previously, Anna was the Co-Founder and Chief Happiness Officer of Loosecubes, a venture-backed marketplace startup. She received her Bachelors of Business Administration with honors from The George Washington University. She currently resides in New Orleans, LA.
